PIREP - Stark Avionics

As much individuals, I appreciate pireps from those of you with knowledge about shops you utilize (good or bad) and love to give my experience for that consideration of others also. After a so-so experience throughout a recent avionics install, I came across myself looking for an alternate avenue for the setting up a whole new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The cost of one was so high which i actually busted out laughing on the mobile phone as though I were with a comedy bar. He was apparently less amused when i. I was telling the tale of my local quote with a friend in the airport and he recommended that we call John Stark at Stark Avionics to get a quote. In doing my research just before calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps on the shop. In this, I discovered an absolutely terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you'd like to see it). This pirep caused me serious worry about if they should call Stark to get a quote.



I posted a broad query for suggestions about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and i also spoke regarding his experience with Stark i thought we would give John a phone call using the two recommendations I coming from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns concerning the negative pirep on MS and the fact that I became gun shy in line with the previous experience. As they always say, there are two sides to every story and John took his time for it to explain his side in my opinion as I am certain he'll be happy to do with someone else who want to phone him constantly in that regard. Our conversation shifted through the pirep to pricing. John and that i discussed different equipment options, what can be perfect for my needs/wants as well as the one-time fee installed price per option. We ultimately thought we would install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted us a soft price, but was beforehand how the number could be slightly higher in the event the tray was riveted in (as many Mooneys are). I went along to manchester international that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were along with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a very timely manner and confirmed the flat rate price for the equipment and install on paper and that we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane would have been to be delivered the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said he would have all the feaures ready by Tuesday, but I opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday just in case there have been some snags along the way.
